Section Three - Race-Day Information
3.1 Race Session Server for the MotD Series will open for practice @ 7:30 pm Est. Qualifying will begin @ 8:30 pm Est. Qualifying will be 5 minutes in length. Warmup/Driver’s Meeting will start @ 8:35 pm Est. Race will start @ 8:45 pm Est.
3.2 Driver’s Meeting will be held in the NASCVR discord server during the warmup phase of each event and is MANDATORY.
3.2.1 Roll call will be taken for the driver’s meeting
3.2.2 Missing the drivers meeting will result in a 1 lap hold to start the race.
3.2.3 Exceptions can be made if something comes up unexpectedly, but it is the driver’s responsibility to inform Race Control if an issue arises.
3.2.4 Drivers are required to be in their team channels in NASCVR discord during the race. A channel may only have the drivers (full time and backup) and spotters for those drivers.
3.3 Drivers must complete a qualifying lap.
3.3.1 Failure to post a qualifying time will result in loss of grid and starting the race from the pits with a 1 lap hold. Exceptions can be granted due to computer issues, but this is a drivers responsibility to inform Race Control as it's happening.
3.3.2 Intentionally posting a ridiculously slow qualifying lap will result in a one lap hold black flag when the race goes green. We understand some guys are faster than others but in the spirit of competition effort must be made to get your best starting position.
3.4 There will be no starting the race from the pits unless you have received a penalty and are told to do so. There will be no End of Lines granted to start the race. You start where you qualify.
3.4.1 Voluntarily starting the race from the pits will result in a hold for a one lap penalty which must be served under green flag conditions.
3.5 There will be 1 fast repair in the MotD Series. If this privilege is abused in MotD, it will be revoked and we will have 0 fast repairs for the remainder of the season. Race like you don’t have one and all will be good.
Section Four - Initial Start & Restarts
4.1 Leader/Pole Sitter has lane choice on all starts and restarts.
4.1.1 The Leader must verbally choose lane before 1 to go under caution.
4.1.2 Pole Sitter will have lane choice. Must choose during the Driver’s Meeting, or will automatically be on the inside lane.
4.1.2.1 Restart zones will be active for the tracks that allow for it and any penalties incurred for start/restart violations are unclearable. In the case of a track that does not have a restart zone, if you are deemed to have jumped the start, it will be a GFPT penalty
4.1.2.2 All starts and restarts will be reviewed.
4.1.3 Leader must hold pace speed until Green Flag is displayed (Initial Start) or Pace Car has completely exited the Racing Surface (Restarts, no restart zone) or has entered the Restart Zone (Restarts). Failure to do so will result in a GFPT penalty.
4.1.4 Stacking the field as the leader on the start or restart will result in a 30 second hold black flag that must be served under green.
4.1.4.1 Defined as not holding pace speed before green, not going when green flag is displayed, brake checking the field, starting then stopping then starting again.
4.2 There will be no Changing Lanes before the Start/Finish line. This includes the Race Leader! No driving on the apron during restarts unless avoiding a wreck. Considerations will be made for avoiding incidents due to tire spin or contact.
4.2.1 Lane change violations will result in GFPT if caught in race (to be served within 2 laps) or a GFPT to start the next race if caught in post race review.
4.3 There will be no lagging back to gain an advantage on Starts and Restarts. Drivers must remain one car length from the car in front of them.
4.4 Yellow Line Rule at Daytona, Talladega, IRSS, and New Atlanta
4.6.1 There will be no going below the yellow line to advance your position at these tracks.
4.6.1.1 Violations will result in a 30 second hold black flag, unless avoiding a wreck.
4.6.1.2 Penalty may be avoided if the position is given back to the other competitor within the exit of the following turn.
4.6.1.2.1 Example: Driver passes below the yellow line at Talladega on the backstretch going into Turn 3. Position must be given back by the exit of Turn 4 to avoid penalty.
4.6.2 For Atlanta in the Quad oval section, since there is limited space and how the track is shaped, this rule is amended to account for two tires below the line to be legal. Once all four tires drop below the line, you will be penalized.
4.6.3 In the event of a driver shortcutting the course while not advancing positions (cutting under the yellow lines in the trioval at Daytona and Talladega, and four tires under the red line at Atlanta in the quadoval, you will receive a GFPT penalty for shortcutting the course.
Section Five - Pit Road
5.1 Drivers must stay as far to the right when driving down pit road to allow drivers to see their pit stall during all caution stops.
5.2 Drivers will enter your pit box no more than 3 stalls in and 3 stalls out under all flag conditions.
5.2.1 Driving through too many pit stalls will result in a GFPT Penalty (must be served under green flag conditions if caught under caution).
5.3 Drivers will exit the pits on the backstretch unless told otherwise during the Driver's Meeting.
5.3.1 Always be sure to stay low until you are clear to join the racing line, do not merge up in front of traffic that is already at race speed.
5.3.1.1 If you are still not up to speed upon pit exit and move up onto the track in front of the field and get clobbered by the field, this will result in disqualification for that race. Pay attention when your are exiting the pits to the field coming full steam
5.4 Causing avoidable contact on pit road (due to other rule violations, aggressive check up, ARCA braking, etc) will result in a GFPT, served under green flag conditions.
Section Six - Cautions
6.1 When the caution comes out everyone must check up to allow for cars to get themselves reoriented as well as to avoid getting into the wreck yourself.
6.1.1 ARCA braking will not be tolerated under caution. Failure to reduce speed to avoid contact will result in a GFPT Penalty
6.1.2 Damaged vehicles unable to maintain pace speed or catch up to the pace car will receive an EOL Penalty at Race Control's discretion.
6.1.3 Any driver unable to catch the field by the start of turn 4 on the 1 to go lap will line up in order of arrival on the inside lane at the rear of the field. Black flags incurred due to this adjustment will be cleared.
6.1.4 If you are catching the field at the time the green flag comes out, you are required to slow down to match the rear of the field instead of blowing past them at full speed. Any driver caught flying past will receive a 1 lap hold.
6.2 All Drivers must stay low after catching the field to allow the Lucky Dog to pass safely. Failure to stay low that causes an incident will result in a 1 lap hold under green.
6.2.1 If a driver believes they should have gotten the free pass and iracing does not give it to them, they may ask RC to look at the standings and if any contact was made that nullified the free pass. If the appeal is successful, RC will wave around the driver and the driver originally given the free pass will be put back in line where they should have been. If the appeal is unsuccessful, they will be given an EOL.
6.3 In the event that all Green/White/Checkered attempts have been exhausted and the caution comes out before the white flag is taken (essentially race ends under yellow flag condition), video review will be utilized to determine the final results of the race instead of iRacing positioning. Position will be determined by location when your car is going straight and stable down the track relative to the other cars. As an example, 2nd place gets spun out causing a caution and 6 cars pass him before he gets the car straightened back out and rolling. While iRacing may give this driver his 2nd place position back, he will be scored 8th in the final rundown.
Section Seven – League Penalties
7.1 Intentional Wrecking
7.1.1 This will not be tolerated in any form or fashion at any point of the race to include after the checkered flag falls.
7.1.2 Violation will result in immediate disqualification from the race, all points accumulated for that race to be stripped, and probation for the following race.
7.1.3 Repeat offenders will result in above penalties as well as suspension to be determined by the admin team as well as probation for the duration of the season.
7.1.4 Retaliation falls under this category. If a guy gets you, shake it off and discuss after the race in private message
7.2 Radio Etiquette
7.2.1 Keep all communication clean and race related. Keep chatter to a minimum during green flag runs so important information may be relayed.
7.2.2 There will be no derogatory statements about another driver made over the iracing radio channel. You got a beef, take it to discord or facebook chat after the race. This includes post race interviews
7.2.3 Violations of radio etiquette will be met with the following penalties
7.2.3.1 Minor violations will result in race chat being muted for a cool off period
7.2.3.2. Major violations (which included rambling on after chat is re-enabled for a minor violation) will have a stepped process. These steps may be skipped at the Race Controllers discretion depending on severity. These penalties are cumulative over the course of the season. Probation for the next race will always result
Chat muted for the duration of the race
Driver will be asked to park the car and a 5 point penalty
Driver will be disqualified and receive last place points
Driver will be suspended for a duration determined by the admin team
Driver will be removed from the league
7.3 Derogatory paint schemes are not permitted on your vehicle. If we see it, you will be removed from the server immediately. Continued violations will result in removal from NASCVR.
7.4 If at any point a driver is told by race control to park their car, that driver has two laps to comply or the end of the race if there are less than 2 laps to go. Failure to to comply will result in Disqualification from that race, Suspended for the next race and put on probation for the race they return.
7.5 There is a full time Race Control for this series. Being a SuperSpeedway Series, most incidents that occur will be of the racing incident type that typically wouldn’t require a penalty. That being said, RC reserves the right to take in race actions against egregious errors or actions (bad block, moving up to stop the lane with momentum with no chance for the lead car in the train to check up, straight up asspacking a guy, ARCA braking, intentional contact, forcing 3 wide when a hole doesn’t exist, etc.). In race penalties can range from a Green Flag Pass Through to disqualification from the event with various lap hold penalties in between. Penalty assessed is at Race Control’s discretion based on driver history and severity of the incident. Simple racing mistakes or aero twitch scenarios will not have a penalty assessed. Bump drafts gone bad and car wiggling are going to happen. That’s how SS racing goes. We will be conducting post race reviews for each race to determine if further action is needed beyond any in race action taken.
7.6 Do not argue with Race Control during the race. You may disagree with a call made, but hold your case till after the race is over for the appeal board. Should you decide to get into an argument with Race Control, further penalties as deemed necessary will be enforced.
7.7 In Race Penalties
7.7.1 Race control will review all incidents on track in real time. If you feel that you are the cause of a caution or cause significant damage to another car but it stays green, you will be asked to claim the wreck. This serves two purposes. It makes it easier for Race Control to find the incident and review it quickly. Also shows personal accountability that has been lacking in recent seasons.
7.7.2 There is a 4 strike system in race so long as you are not on probation. If you are on probation you have 3 strikes and would start at Strike 2 for a first offense.
7.7.2.1 Strike 1 – EOL for the next restart if you claim the cause and Race Control agrees. If unclaimed and found at fault, this will be a GFPT
Strike 2 – GFPT for the next restart if you claim the cause and Race Control agrees. If unclaimed and found at fault this will be a 1 lap hold
Strike 3 – 1 lap hold for the next restart if you claim the cause and Race Control agrees. If unclaimed and found at fault you will be required to park the car.
Strike 4 – You will be required to park the car.
7.8 Post Race Review and penalties involved
7.8.1 All incidents will be reviewed after the race and the driver determined at fault will have a rating assigned to the incident. This includes incidents that do not cause caution. These incidents will be tallied and averaged over the course of the season. There are also multipliers in play for drivers that have multiple incidents in a race. While this mainly applies to the post race review, RC has the right to park a driver that is repeatedly causing problems in a race that likely would result in a rating assessment on the driver.
7.8.1.1 1st offense in race = rating of offense
2nd offense in race = rating of offense x2
3rd offense in race = rating of offense x3 and automatic probation/possible suspension for next race depending on severity
4th offense in race = rating of offense x4. Probable suspension
7.8.1.2 If you are found to be the cause of a wreck and do not claim it, an additional half a point will be added to the rating.
7.8.2 Offense ratings – Descriptions are not all encompassing and are at Race Review discretion
L0 – wrecks deemed racing incidents due to netcode, if you get sucked around from sidedraft properly executed (this will be a grey area and will be solely on RC discretion in race and on a case by case basis) aero weaving in the lines that meet in the middle, etc
L1 – self spins, square bump draft that didn’t work out, single car incidents that cause caution, minor on track door bangs that cause no appreciable damage but could have been avoided, etc
L2 – racing mistake that causes appreciable damage to others whether a caution is caused or not. Door bangs that send a competitor into a wall or another car, off center bump drafts gone bad, bumper hooks, any pit road contact, corner contact that spins another car (wash ups, bad lane change timing), bad lane change timing resulting in spinning off the nose of another car, wall bounce into others, blown motor stack up/pile up, etc.
L3 – questionable maneuvers that cause damage to others or drastic evasive maneuvers to avoid crashing, forcing holes that don’t exist, ARCA braking, moving to block a lane with a major speed advantage resulting in a slam draft or major evasive maneuver to avoid crashing. Also will result in automatic probation. While yes, we want aggressive competitive racing, there is a line where it becomes disrespectful to your competitors and the league. If the car don’t fit, don’t shove it there
L4 – Any form of intentional wrecking to include after the checkered flag. Also will be disqualified from the race, points stripped and suspended the next race at minimum
7.8.2 A driver with an accumulated single race of L6 will pit start the next race, a driver with an accumulated single race of L7 – L9 will have a GFPT to start the next race. A driver with an accumulated single race of L10 or higher will have a 1 lap hold at the start of the next race.
7.8.3 At Fault Incident Rating. A driver with a season long average of L1.99 or less has no restriction. The average will take effect after Race 3. A driver with a season long average of L2-L3.49 will be on probation until the average is back below L2. Probation means if you cause an incident, the rating will be from the 2nd offense level to start instead of the 1st. A driver with a season long average of L3.5 will serve a one race suspension and be placed on probation upon return. Continued incidents in the return race may result in additional suspensions. Any suspension a driver incurs does not count for your drop week
7.8.4 Green Flag Pass Through procedure. If you have a GFPT, you must take the green on track and complete the lap under green before serving the penalty.
7.9 Post Race Review and Appeals. The penalty report will be posted by Wednesday evening after a given race week and will be based on the in race notes. The report is based solely on the discretion of Race Control and League Owner. The review board (which will consist of the entire admin team) will convene no later than Friday of a given race week to go over any incidents that may not have been a cut and dried call in race and any appeals that are filed. If you disagree with a call made against or feel that we missed a call, you have until this time to file an appeal with video evidence and explanation of your case. We will not be responsible for providing the video for you. If you don’t have a copy of the replay, sorry can’t help you. Any incidents that are not appealed will not be further reviewed outside of the in race report.
Section 8 Black Flag Clearing
8.1 Passing under yellow is only clearable if the car that should be ahead of you is damaged due to wrecking and has not caught up to the field. Race Control will strive to ensure EOL’s are given to mitigate this issue.
8.1.1 Should a driver be found to intentionally cause a PUY black flag (intentionally not passing cars necessary to get in proper order, brake checking to fall behind, etc.), they will receive penalty at RC discretion based on history of anything from a 1 lap hold to disqualification from the race
8.2 Speeding on pit road is not clearable for any reason with the exception of being forced to pit lane to avoid a wreck or the wreck sent you down pit road. These exceptions can be rescinded if said driver continues at an unsafe speed. While real world safety is not a factor in the virtual world, in the spirit of the simulation, your virtual crews would still like to come back next week to service your car.
8.3 Unsafe entrance/exit from pit road is not clearable for any reason with the exception of being forced to pit lane to avoid a wreck or the wreck sent you down pit road. These exceptions can be rescinded if said driver continues at an unsafe speed. While real world safety is not a factor in the virtual world, in the spirit of the simulation, your virtual crews would still like to come back next week to service your car.
8.4 Start/Restart violation is not clearable for any reason
8.5 Meatball flag may only be cleared within the last 5 laps (time allowed to make the stop) of the race so a driver may attempt to limp his car home for the best possible finish.
Section 9 - Points MotD Series
9.1 Finishing first- 112 points 2nd 102 points 3rd 97 4th 94 points and decrementing down to 26 points for 60th
9.2 Led one or more laps- 3 points
9.3 Led Most Laps- 2 points in addition to the 3 points for leading a lap
9.4 Pole- 3 points
9.5 Stage points determined by number of entries in the race
9.5.1 51 or more entries 1st – 15 points down to 1 point for 15th
41-50 entries 1st – 12 points down to 1 point for 12th
Less than 41 – 1st 10 points down to 1 for 10th
9.5.2 The stage will end at the conclusion of the posted lap, regardless of green or yellow status of the race. If the advertised stage is lap 30, the stage will end at the conclusion of lap 30. If a caution comes out on lap 28, it is the drivers option to pit on 29 forfeiting the track position, or staying out for stage points. The stage will never end early.
9.6 Team Points are accumulated race by race as an average of total points scored by team drivers divided by number of team drivers in the race. Example Team has 3 drivers in the race. Driver A scores 42 points, Driver B scores 36, and Driver C scores 21. Total points (99) divided by number of drivers (3) equals 33 points for the team for that race
9.6.1 A team may have no more than 4 Drivers and must have a minimum of 2 in the race to score points. Backup drivers are allowed if a team needs a substitute for a race. This can be done either by a permanent backup driver on the roster that will sub in automatically, or by tasking a known free agent to drive for that race for the team.
